    • New Features
    • We added new option called Open Associated Video, which allows .ezt & .eztxml projects to be opened without automatically loading their associated videos. This feature is particularly useful when videos are stored on remote network servers.

      The option is enabled by default but can be deactivated from Preferences/Startup and Warnings or from File/Open.
    • New option in Fix Subtitles is available. The option is called Keep In-cue Forced and is aimed at fixing overextended subtitles where a single subtitle overlaps with the cues of two or more subtitles.
    • Word Wrap now includes a new option: Wrap only outside Safe Area subtitles. When enabled, Word Wrap will only adjust subtitles that are flagged as being outside the Safe Area.
    • Improvements
    • The length of exported QT MOV files can now be extended by up to 10 seconds. Previously, the exported MOV would end precisely at the last subtitle's endpoint.
    • Ctrl + Tab and Ctrl + Shift + Tab can be used for navigating between the different sub-menus and pages within File/Details.
    • The Dropbox cloud features have been updated to include increased timeout intervals, ensuring smoother integration and minimizing issues caused by slow or unstable connections.

    • An issue related to ChatGPT's responses from ChatGPT Assistant being incorrectly split in some cases has been resolved.
    • Bug preventing items from Clipboard history (Win + V) to be inserted in EZTitles has been fixed.

    March 10, 2025

    • Automated Translation - DeepL and Google Translate engines are supported with an option to choose which one to use. DeepL covers all European languages, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Indonesian and Arabic. Google Translate, on the other hand, supports most languages.

    • ChatGPT Assistant is now part of EZTitles and can be used for a variety of tasks, including proofing or rewriting text, answering questions about terminology or idioms, and even for translation. The big advantage is that it is integrated into the program to eliminate the annoying cutting and pasting back and forth between the ChatGPT app or web browser and EZTitles.

    • Multiple subtitle tracks - We have extended the two subtitle tracks functionality with an option to have an unlimited number of tracks. They can be used for various tasks such as overlapping subtitles in time (as in Version 6), adding forced narratives, multiple versions of the subtitles, or consolidating all translations into a single project.
      Everything you need to know about that is explained in detail in the dedicated Help topic.

    • Linked subtitle tracks - All the tracks in a project (as mentioned above) can now be linked together, allowing you to edit the formatting, positioning, or timing of one track and have the changes apply to all linked tracks simultaneously.
      Please refer to this article for details.

    • File and Track comparison - The File/Compare with functionality has been extended, allowing you to compare the active track with another renamed to Compare the active track with.

    • Recent files - EZTitles now stores the history of up to 200 recently accessed project files, imported files and video files.

    • Double-button shortcuts - You may now assign double button shortcuts in combination with Ctrl, Alt or Shift keys like Ctrl + L + K or Shift + K + Alt + L.
    • Export Blu-ray/DVD images, DVB subtitles, QuickTime MOV - These exports haven’t gone anywhere! They’ve simply been organized into the Export Subtitles menu for easy access.

    • Macros changes - Macros object model have been updated and now includes functions and methods for using all subtitle tracks./br>In addition, due to a change in recent Windows 11 update, HasSecondSubtitlesTrack and ActiveTrack properties are replaced by TrackIndex properties of the SubtitlesTracks object.

    • Windows 7 and Windows 8 End of Life - We’d like to inform you that with the release of EZTitles 7, we are officially ending support for Windows 7 and Windows 8. While we worked hard to maintain compatibility longer than originally planned, the latest technology can no longer function on computers using these older systems. We appreciate your understanding as we move forward.

    • The MCC CEA-708 Closed Captions export now includes new transmission mode compatibility option intended to increase the interoperability with third-party products: Adobe Premiere and Telestream's Switch. We recommend selecting the respective option when the output will be used by one of these tools and keep the "default" in all other situations.
    • Improvements
    • Compatibility options required to run EZTitles under virtual machine on MAC systems will be applied automatically.
    • Subtitles exported as TTML1 & TTML2 and IMSC1 & IMSC 1.1 now include <xml:id> tag for increased compatibility with third-party systems.
    • There are several changes made to the USF export:
      • There is a new option to distinguish the exported file as either "open" or "closed" subtitles.
      • Exported USF files will not include color tags for white text, otherwise they might be interpret as additional control code character by third party apps.
      • Improved metadata (Language and Title) handling when exporting USF files.
    • Bugs Fixed
    • Issue with the Safe Area override option for Open/PAC projects has been identified and fixed. Safe Area override is meant for use only in Open/PAC project types and previously it used to affect Teletext/PAC projects.
    • Encoding tag, "encoding=UTF-8", when exporting IMSC-Rosetta Timed Text files has been modified and will always be exported in uppercase letters. Previously, it used to be exported in lowercase letters which turned out to be an issue for some QC systems.
    • Bug causing "List index out of bounds" error when trying to export project containing empty subtitles as USF has been resolved.
    • Problem causing some pop-on captions to not be displayed after pausing the video or switching to a different CC channel in third party apps has been fixed.

    • Improvements
    • Rubies rendering when displayed by some fonts, like the Google Fonts, have been improved and as a result rubies will appear much closer to the text they are inserted over.
    • Raised subtitles, appearing in the top half of the screen, imported from EBU STL will now be displayed as aligned to the top Safe Area margin. They will be offset from the top margin as much as needed to preserve the original row positioning from the source EBU STL file.
    • Added tts:extent attribute to the <tt> element when exporting TTML2 files and the outline color is specified in pixels. This attribute defines the coordinate space for the document and is required when using pixel values for other attributes in the document.
    • EZTitles now supports 890 files in Mongolian.
    • Added support for more metadata when exporting USF subtitle format. The matching values from Project Details are automatically included in the USF file.
    • Tab characters, "U+0009 ", will now be imported from PAC files and will render as a regular space character. Previously, they used to be discarded completely.
    • Bugs Fixed
    • Problem with Subtitling Assistant, causing "Extract transcription for subtitles" to create subtitles only for part of the whole project, has been resolved.
    • Issue related to incorrectly calculating _r_quantisationregion when exporting Imsc-Rosetta Timed Text files has been identified and fixed.

    • Improvements
    • New option when importing SCC files is available. It allows CC data from a specific CC channel to be imported when the SCC contains CC data on more than one channel.
    • New option that enables/disables ENM (Erase Non-Displayed Memory) control code from affecting the Time to Process is available for projects in Closed Captions mode. We advise to keep it disabled to reduce the Time To Process needed unless working with CPC-715 .onl and Caption Inc .cin formats. The ENM control code is essential for calculating Time to Process for these two formats.

    • Rare issue causing the text to suddenly stop showing on screen after importing a video file has been identified and resolved.
    • Bug causing Fix Subtitles - Snap to top/bottom safe area to continuously report that some subtitles have been modified is now fixed.
    • Issue related to Find & Replace being unable to find complex characters, composed or two or more symbols like a letter with an accent, after importing RTF/DOC/DOCX or Timed Text files or pasting the text directly from other text editing applications has been solved.
    • Bug causing Find & Replace related macros to affect the loaded Reference file has been fixed.
    • Issue leading to some characters not being present in the compressed font file exported along with a DLP XML file in some situations has now been fixed.

    • New option for frame rate conversion is available in Titles/Recut(Offset). The new timecodes will be stretched or shrunk by a factor of the original frame rate divided by the targeted frame rate.
    • There is a new file Merge option that can be used to match subtitles by timecode.
    • The option to Rollback changes from an earlier Labeled Revisions have been expanded to also enable copying of the individual attributes: Subtitle's Cues, Formatting, Positioning and Text.
    • Improvements
    • Find Replace - Set replaced text color offers new option to format the replaced text in Default Color, as set in Project Settings/Effects.
    • SCC files containing extra space in the heading line can now be imported.
    • Bugs Fixed
    • Bug with Find Replace has been identified and fixed. As a result it'll now be possible to replace only the words/phrases that are formatted in specific color, font or are underlined without modifying the remaining instances that don't match these criteria.
    • Exporting DCDM (SMPTE 428-7) subtitles as PNG Images will also always include compressed copy of the font file. This is needed for compliance with certain equipment.
    • Bug common to the DLP XML and DCDM (SMPTE 428-7) export functions causing subtitles with soft shadow applied to be reported as Out of Safe Area during export has been found and fixed.
    • Issue common to the DLP XML and DCDM (SMPTE 428-7) export functions and causing the "HPosition" attribute to be discarded in some situations when exporting cropped PNG Images has been resolved.

    • Bug causing characters represented with HTML referece codes to be incorrectly imported from SAMI files has been fixed.
    • Certain style override options found in SubStation SSA/ASS files will be ignored on import. Previously, files containing such styles couldn't be imported.
    • Issue leading to subtitles being displayed outside of Safe Area margins after importing EBU-TT file has been resolved.

    • We're sad to announce that EZTitles 6.2.30 no longer provides integration with Google Drive due to a upcomming change in Google Drive's API which will not allow us to continue synchronizing EZTitles' settings and templates. Of course, Google Drive may still be used for keeping and synchronizing projects and videos across all your devices.

    • Improvements
    • There is a new option available for the Apple iTunes Timed Text export allowing the offset to be exported and indicated in the "<div>" element of the exported file.
    • Global Format options have been improved and now include options change presentation for all text lines except the first or second one.
    • Fix Subtitles include three new options: "Remove rubies", "Remove Boutens" and "Convert horizontal groups text to normal".East Asian language related options are accessible after activating "East Asian text scripts enhancements" in Edit/Preferences/Editing.
    • Subtitling Assistant now supports Icelandic.
    • Display coordinates present in SRT files will not be displayed as part of the text even if the Import display coordinates option isn't activated.
    • Translated Language, as specified in File/Details, will be exported as part of the metadata of a Softitler TXT files should the Original Language is missing.

    • EZTitles introduces improved speech-recognition with speaker diarization (speaker changes) support for several more languages: French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Finnish, Polish, Russian and Turkish. Along with the better speaker diarization comes and improved punctuation which in return helps the Subtitling Assistant to split the translation into subtitles more efficiently.
    • We are happy to announce that EZTitles now supports for import and export the brand-new IMSC-Rosetta Timed Text format.
    • EZTitles 6.2.29 adds second new import feature allowing import of MacCaption projects (.cca).

    • TTML2 and IMSC 1.1 import and export features are modified to support shadow effect.

    • Bug causing control code for black background to be incorrectly added in some situations to the exported Teletext EBU STL file has been fixed. Black background is part of the default presentation for teletext subtitles and its control code may be skipped in these situations.
    • It's now possible to set the language to Norwegian, without the "Bokmål" or "Nynorsk" annotation, when exporting DLP Cinema XML as well as other Timed-Text formats.

    • QuickTime .mov export - options to select which of the loaded tracks to be exported in the output .mov are now available.
    • The Production Scripts import feature has been improved to more accurately detect if In- and Out-cues have been mixed with the text.
    • Programme Start TC set in File/Details will now be used for Closed Captions projects to determine if the first caption in the project can be loaded in time. Warning will be displayed in the Preview list, as well as by Check Subtitles, in the case that it actually needs more time to be fully loaded.
    • SCC Export - the Programme Start timecode parameter will now be used to check if the first caption from the exported file can loaded in time. If there's an issue with it, a warning message will be displayed. EZTitles will still try to move the first caption forward to ensure it could be loaded in time.

    • Closed Captions - bug with the Export in upper case (alternative charset) option causing accented characters to sometimes lose their accent has been resolved.

    • Subtitling Assistant - bug causing two of the files (~aad.dat and ~aad.session) generated by it to be created when opening a video, even though the Automatically collect Subtitling Data is turned off, has been fixed.
    • Subtitling Assistant - problem when analyzing the same video, in sections, in two EZTitles instances has been solved.
    • Custom Text Export - problem with the <num> parameter when used for exporting RTF/DOC Table or Excel Table has been resolved.

    • Issue related to the import of PAC files and causing spaces on certain positions to be discarded and not displayed has been fixed.

    • New option "Snap In-cue if Before- plus After cut interval is shorter than Min. Interval" is available in Project Settings/Cues. It's aimed at achieving compliance with Amazon Prime timing requirements and more specifically:
      C. If there is one subtitle before and one subtitle after the shot change, the first subtitle should end 2 frames before the shot change, and the second subtitle should start on the shot change.
      To achieve this with EZTitles:
      activate the new option and set Min. Interval = 2 frames, Threshold= 3 frames and Gap= 0 frames.

    • Text rendering based on the latest improvements in the DirectWrite technology allow us to benefit from the advanced typography features of OpenType fonts and hardware accelerated text. This will significantly improve typography and display of characters in EZTitles and various images outputs.

    • Ruby Alignment parameter is supported and will be exported in TTML2, IMSC 1.1 and all image-based formats. Ruby Alignment can be modified from the Phonetic Guide and Fix Subtitles tools.
    • We’ve completely changed how the character per line value is calculated for Arabic, Thai, Hindi, etc. These scripts contain composite characters (characters with tone marks, top and bottom vowels, etc.) which now count as one character for all indicators and checks in EZTitles, including reading speed and duration calculations. This change is in line with the newest specifications from major broadcasters and streaming services and advancements in text editing applications.
    • Background colors will now be displayed in Open/Native and Digital Cinema modes by activating Enable background colors in Open/Native and Digital Cinema modes under Project Settings/Subtitles. Its main purpose is to preserve the background color from traditional subtitling formats like PAC, EBU STL and 890 when delivering to the more and more used Timed-Text based files.
      With the option activated the background color will be automatically exported to TTML1&TTML2, IMSC 1&IMSC 1.1, EBU-TT, SMPTE-TT Subtitles, WebVTT, PAC, 890 and EBU STL (TTX lvl1, TTX lvl2) as well as all image-based exports.
    • Video playback and text drawing will now benefit from Hardware Acceleration.
    • New DVB export option creating FFMPEG compatible (MPEG-TS) subtitles is available for EZTitles Ultimate.

    • There is a new Character Code Table compatibility option added for Teletext projects that enables you easily spot unsupported by EBU STL characters right in the main editor.     • The "Media Start Timecode" option available in the export configuration of some formats has been renamed to "Recut/Offset" to outline more adequately its function and use.

      • The Reference file is now always synced with the subtitles in the main track so you could work smoothly even if timing corrections are needed and Split, Merge, Delete, etc. commands are used.

      • Reference Tips balloons can be focused with the mouse. Text can be selected and copied from them afterwards.

      • New Go to Reference Tip command that automatically focuses on the corresponding Reference Tip.

      • New Copy from reference subtitle that copies text, its style, position and formatting from the corresponding reference subtitle and automatically pastes it in the edit file.
    • There are several improvements aimed to make the process of working and writing Macros easier:

      • It's now possible to include external javascript (.js) files via the #include statement.

      • Ctrl + F allows you to search the code of the macro.

      • Selecting part of the code will now highlight all occurrences of the same code in the Macro.

      • There will be notification after hitting Escape or pressing the Cancel button when the macro has been modified but the changes not saved.

      • Ctrl + Left/Right Arrow can be used in the Macro editor to jump to the beginning or end of the phrase in the code.

      • Ctrl + Backspace deletes the selected phrase in the code until the preceeding it space.
    • There is a new Compare With option that allows you to directly compare any supported by EZTitles file to the current project. It is called and can be accessed directly from the File menu.
    • There is new Video Crop option available in the Video drop-down menu. It allows you to crop the black bars of the loaded video if it doesn't match the Aspect Ratio of your project to avoid looking at unusually stretched or squashed image.
    • There are two new options for the Preview Subtitles Scenes only feature that allow you to either completely skip the parts of the video with no subtitles in them or increase the playback speed while fast forwarding through them.
    • Improvements
    • There are two new commands, In and Out cue + 1 frame and In and Out cue -1 frame, allowing the user to offset the current subtitle 1 frame forwards or backwards.
    • There is a new Fit text to one line command intended to merge the text from two or more lines to a single line if the project's settings allow it.

Duration set in the project as long as the last subtitle has a valid In-cue.     • The list of supported by Netflix characters has been updated to accommodate the most recent changes of Netflix Accepted Glyph List .

    • Roll-up captions with out-cues that are in the gap of 0 frames to Blank between pop-ons interval from the next caption will no longer trigger a warning when performing Checks. These captions are considered as chained and their out-cues will automatically be removed during export.

    • Issue with imported videos causing audio issues when playing the imported video at slow speed, x0.1, x0.5 and so on, has been resolved.
    • Problem related to modifying the in-cue of chained captions (captions without out-cue in Closed Captions mode) has been fixed. Their durations didn't use to update correctly in the Preview list.
